James Douglas Yates, MD
Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Dr. Yates graduated
with a BS from the University of Michigan. Soon after, he earned
his MD from the University of Michigan Medical School.
Dr. Yates completed both a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship
in cardiology at University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. A
Captain in the United States Air Force, Dr. Yates served at Holloman
Air Force Base in New Mexico from 1968-1970. There, too, he was
appointed Chief of Internal Medicine from 1969-1970.
Dr. Yates
has been with University Cardiology since 1974. He has
been the invited lecturer for a number of seminars and authored and
co-authored journal articles. Additionally, he has been appointed
to several teaching and leadership roles. He currently serves
as Director of both the Echocardiography and Electrocardiography Laboratories
at the University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital.
