Bret A. Rogers, MD
“I chose the field of cardiology because cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and hospitalization in the country, and I wanted to work in a field where I could help as many patients as possible. Making a subtle diagnosis or changing a course of treatment that ultimately improves someone’s life keeps me going and reminds me that I get to practice the greatest profession in the world.” An avid fan of the Blue Devils, Dr. Bret Rogers earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He then went on to receive his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following the completion of both an internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Rogers continued his medical training with a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Together with his wife, Julie, an attorney, the Rogers have three young daughters: Ainslee, Ellery and Kelsey. In his spare time, Dr. Rogers enjoys spending time with his family as well as playing basketball, soccer and golf, listening to and playing music (especially the trumpet), and rooting for Duke sports teams. Dr. Rogers joined University Cardiology in 2007. Education
