Russell Huntsinger, Jr., MD
“I enjoy the diversity of people and problems in cardiology, the direct one-on-one patient interaction, and the opportunities to make a connection with patients and families and positively affect their lives.” A native East Tennesseean, Dr. Huntsinger grew up in Morristown. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was active with Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and a number of campus activities. After graduating magna cum laude with a BA in Political Science, Dr. Huntsinger went on to earn his medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. There, too, he was active—being elected treasurer of his junior class, serving on several committees, and playing intramural football and basketball. After doing both his internship and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Hospital, Dr. Huntsinger did a fellowship in cardiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Dr. Huntsinger is married to Susan Huntsinger, MD, a hematologist and medical oncologist with University Cancer Specialists at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Together they have two young boys: Harrison and Hudson. In his spare time, Dr. Huntsinger enjoys basketball, swimming, reading, and traveling. Education
